Stucco Repair Myths

Often I’m told that other contractors are removing stucco from buildings and replacing it with another siding because it is too difficult for them to repair, or because “it is not the right siding for the Pacific Northwest.” I want to address these myths and save the homeowners a few bucks in the process. It is actually much easier and more cost effective to repair and recoat a stucco building than it is to remove stucco and replace with new siding.

Stucco is one the most durable siding materials and well suited for the Pacific Northwest because it doesn’t rot or mold in wet environments like other siding products. I frequently work on 100-year-old buildings. In that time, another siding would have been replaced 3-4 times, while the stucco I still there. It is an extremely durable material that’s also very unique.

Every stucco house is a work of art. With its many handmade variations, stucco creates a distinctive beauty for the building that other products can’t compete with.
